Screw You Neopets/Neopests/Neopot

by Grace

I am Grace, I'm 12 years old, and I used to be a neopets addict. Thank you so much for your website! I think it saved me from getting even more addicted. I stumbled upon it while looking for cheat codes and gaming tips, and now, I am now neopets free. This neopets addiction shouldn't have happened to me. My older brother had a very similar addiction that started when he was my age; only instead of neopests, he played warcraft. Totally different games, but the same deal. I watched what happened to him, .and his addiction (gone now) is still having a lot of consequences.  I should have know better, but I didn't. It all started simply with me being bored, and I saw like a TV ad or something for neopets, so I joined. I was playing more and more; before I knew it, I was hooked. Not badly, but hooked. One day, I saw a what a plushie yurble looks like, and suddenly, that's all I cared about, making NPs to buy the paintbrush. My grades were starting to slip! That's when I saw your site. I realized what I was doing and what was happening, and thought of Tyler (my older brother, former warcraft addict) and how badly things went for him, so I decided to quit.

I put all my items into my shop for 1np, all my precious codestones and map pieces and everything else, and laughed at the poor suckers who would be so happy to finds something for so cheap. They're pixels, not real items! Anyone who would be elated at the thought of a piece of the lab ray map for only 1np is crazy! It's all fake. They should be happy about  hanging out with friends, finding a really cute shirt on the clearance rack, acing the math test or whatever, not making fake money in a fake, addicting world, and buying fake things with it. We all have things that make us happy, but those things should be in the real world, not a computerized one!

So I finally quit neopets! In the process of quitting, I noticed just how controlling neopets is. I decided to post one last message on my guild board to tell everyone that I was leaving forever. I tried to tell them it was because I was addicted to neopets and  I needed to quit for my own good, but the neopets team wouldn't let me! I could only tell them that I was leaving! Neopets can't have anyone who is angry, nooo, just happy happy happy players! However, I directed them to my shop, where I put the full explanation up in the description, (thankfully that's still there) I tried to tell them that neopets was an imaginary world made up of pixels and coding, but neopets wouldn't let me. ( I really shouldn't be so surprised)

Goodbye and Good  riddance neopets, may all your staff be damned to hell!
If you haven't already quit neopets, do so, and stop screwing your life up!

I now angrily refer to neopets as neopot, and the neopets staff as neopests
My brother the former warcraft addict now calls is warcrack or warcrap
we are now doing much better without our virtual worlds, and we're both straight A students. That is what quitting your addicting online game/world can do for you
