Bad, Bad Neopets!

By alikay_vik

I quit a long time ago, but I still go on to check on the system and how badly people are falling for it.  I won’t be a liar and say I never did.  I spent a whole summer slaving away on my computer playing games and earning little pixels shaped like numbers.  I go back to see how Neopets is screwing other people.  I see the way they are attempting to “beautify Neoland” and I laugh at their stupidity.

First and foremost, the reason I quit.  I started realizing the treachery of Neopets when they froze my first account, containing half of my plushie collection worth millions of dollars.  Why?  I still don’t know.  I didn’t swear, I didn’t trade or buy anything.  Maybe because I was transferring them over to another account?  I then emailed NeoStaff with my dilemma.  After waiting weeks and no response I emailed again.  This time, in a frustrated tone, they basically told me to bug off.  The team gave me no reason or excuse for icing my account, they didn’t tell me why or even apologize.  I even told them what was in that account, all 300+ plushies [including my very first one] but they just didn’t care.  That’s it.  They don’t care about you.  I’m 16 years old.  If they don’t care about me, what makes you think they will care about your children?

Neopets is set up so you can never get ahead.  Sure you can get billions of NP [neopoints] but think about it.  There is no direct relationship between NP and … well …anything!  NP is not money.  You can’t buy anything with NP other than an apple you can never eat or a toy you can never play with.  For goodness sakes, you can buy clothes even your own PET can’t wear correctly.  All you see is words that say “your pet is now equipped…” You can’t even place a t-shirt on your pet.  YOU CAN’T EVEN PET YOUR PET!  You probably spend more time playing with this virtual thing than your own cat or dog.  Look at your pet whether it is a bird, cat, dog, fish or snail and honestly tell yourself you spend more time with them than on the computer.  You can’t!  Telling you something?

It’s amazing how people pine for NP like its real money.  When I gave away my millions, people lowered their image so much so, that they begged for something that doesn’t exist.  Pathetically, they pleaded, bombarding me with stories on how they were hacked, or their pet is dying and they don’t have money or how their little sister is crying because she is broke and dirt poor.  I laughed cold-heartedly and gave them the money anyway, feeding the fire of the Neopets System.  They were all putting themselves in low position, allowing themselves to be stepped on by the Neopets staff.

To Neopets, “beautifying Neoland” means ridding the scammers.  This is where I laugh!  They brag of having millions and millions of players, people ranging from age 7 to 92 for all they know yet they freeze accounts due to suspicion.  Good Job Neo.  Assuming you have a scammer in your hands you freeze.  Now you get angry emails wondering why and you ignore them because you automatically think you are right!  You are not always correct, Neopets.  You cannot rid Neoland of all its scammers so don’t try.  Instead of making it harder for people to play, make it harder for scammers to scam.  There are other ways, Neopets.

All in all, Neo is doing a poor job of accommodating its millions of players.  Maybe one day, they will realize that and attempt to do something constructive and helpful instead of using trickery and power trips of having fake money.  Playing on psychology is wrong, Neo.  Bad, Bad Neopets.
