Close Neopets for good and get your life back

By claudias_friend

I innocently joined Neopets when I was about 9. I can't remember how I found it, but I did. I signed up, I looked around, and I was addicted.

Here I am, at the age of 14, still addicted. Sure, there were those 6 months that I quit. I quit because I realized I was wasting my time, I realized how stupid Neopets really was. But, alas, I stumbled upon an ad labeled "Neopets" and I was thrown right back to where I started. Why, I don't know. Once you log into that account you get sucked in to their web of popularity. You have a sudden need to be noticed around the site. You long to be FAMOUS, the BEST.

But you know what? Popularity on a virtual pets site doesn't sound that cool anymore. It really doesn't. I want to be an actress and any recognition I get from these insolent fools isn't going to help me get there, nor does sitting at my computer all day get me any closer to my dreams. The bits of data I stare at everyday aren't going to help me in my life at all. I really have known that all along, but I continue to log in and poison my life with this nonsense. I continue to slack on my schoolwork and ignore my family and friends.

No more.

I stumbled upon your website, read every single article and have come to a decision: I'm quitting Neopets. Although I will not close my browser to Neopets completely as I am an avid roleplayer in my guild, I am completely closing myself off to anything Neopets related. My pets and Neopoints that once meant so much to me will sit in my account until the day that Neopets comes to a long-awaited fall. Neopets is a game, just like all of the other video games I own. It is not the real world. It doesn't mean anything. I would much rather go beat one of my video or computer games again than try to beat a game that never ends.

That's right. It never ends. So stop it before you waste anymore time fighting a battle you can't win. Go beat WarCraft or kick your sibling's butt in Mario Party or something. Go spend time with your family friends. Those memories mean so much more than a virtual pet site. So go live them before you lose them. NOW. Close Neopets for good and get your life back.
