Worse by the Day- Geo's Story of How Much He Endured Neopets Until He Quit

by Geo

It all started one August day in 2004. One of my friends introduced me into Neopets. I thought, 'Hey! I haven't played Neopets when I was younger, so why miss the opportunity?' I made an account, and then I started happily making NP, going on the boards, Neomailing others, doing contests. I started to feel lonely, so I started to post on the board that I wanted to join a guild. Eventually, one nice girl invited me over to her guild.

Only about one or two months later, after I had 5 super expensive items, I decided it was time I trade it all away for NP. I actually got scammed because this one user (who eventually got frozen) gave me what I thought was a super expensive item, but was absoultely not. I checked the item on the trading post to make sure he wasn't lying. Most people were looking for 100000NP, one person offered it for 9000000NP who must be working alongside the scammer, and the scammer said it was worth 9000000NP. This was the time I started realizing that Neopets was WAY much better before. With all the stupid, pointless, extremely annoying, and strict rules, I started to feel bad and lose about 1/4 of my interest with Neopets. I didn't report it because I assumed it was too late, and I assumed Neopet's customer service would be lousy.

So, I played really hard for 3 months only to get the lab map I wanted. At the same time, I went into the forums and saw this post saying that Neopets were only pixels, which influenced me, as well as making me have 1/8 less of an interest with Neopets. Through into the HATIC plot I went, and I lost another 1/8 for having a bad plot.

In the next plot, which in case you were still unfrozen at the time, was the Curse of Maraqua. I started to join the Pirate's supporter (bad guys) side, and it was really unfair. At the time of the plot, I had two accounts (one for when galleries had to be in shops, now for experiments). I joined to be a Maraquan supporter (good guys) on my experimental account, and I found something I thought was unfair. While the people who joined the Pirate side CAN'T go to Maraqua, the people of the Maraquan side could still go to the pirate's place (Krawk Island). They could've made it fair by having it by one world vs. another. Another unfair thing I found out was that Neopets made a new rule making getting points for supporting and battling harder, as well as a new rule in which they have to censor the trophy we have in our cabinet until after the war (even though they didn't want any more pirate meetings or Maraquan meetings on the forums, there still were). That just shows you how Neopets is getting worse, stupid, and lame. Next thing you know, the good guys can be able to get double of what the bad guys get in terms of points. The plot was even worse than HATIC. This made me lose 1/8 of my interest with Neopets.

Well, through the CoM plot I went, and after, all of a sudden, my guild leader, and friend, lost the Faerie Queen Doll she could've got fairly in a trade by a Neo-glitch. At the same day, I went into a game called Castle Battles. I played and sent in what would've been such a high score, and what would've got me a trophy, but at my front page, there was no trophy! I reported these glitches, and until today, they NEVER responded. That made me lose 1/8 of my interest.

Finally, in May 2005, I started having problems. At school, my teacher gave me excessive homework  that year, which forced me to get off Neopets unless I need to zap my pet until July. The main reasons I wented on then on Neopets was because of the nice guild I joined in, and to continue my lab map log without missing a single day. Also, the school's air conditioning was turned off. This got me excessively stressed out. That made me lose my last 1/8 of my interest with Neopets.

But I couldn't stop. It was addicting. So my parents made me go on a trip for three days without the computer. I then realized, now that my lab map log is forever incomplete. I couldn't make it complete again so why bother? Then, I started researching about how bad Neopets was, because I started becoming angry with Neopets. I reported my findings to my friends in the guild I was in. I eventually came across your site. It was very informative, probably the most informative out there.

Now, one year later, I've been thinking about alternative ways while I quit to the two reasons I mainly stay on Neopets. I can't finish the lab map log, so I guess I'll just stop it. Instead of talking to my friends on the guilds at Neopets, I'll just give them my e-mail address and they can contact me there. Neopets has turned their site from a site of fun, to a site of stupidity (except for featheralley). I've also started taking your method of how to quit Neopets. I read it and thought how behind I was in reading (I didn't even finish the third Harry Potter), school (I still got good grades, but most from procrastination), I had NO friends at school, and I was depressed, disatisfied, as well as angry. Neopets screwed my school year, and now I'm recovering.

P.S.- My account never got frozen or even a warning. Even though I...

-posted in chat
-have a shop
-buy from others
-buy to restock

-bid at auctions
-trade items
-play games
-send Neomail
-got items sent
-got scammed
-got my userlookup modified
-said something bad about Neopets, AND
-log on to more than 1 computer

Those were all the instructions you told everybody not to do to stay unfrozen.

Anyways, Screw You and Good Riddance Neopets!"
