I'll just give you a few lines from "The Matrix" and you can see for yourself, why you are trapped.

Morpheus, talking about the people trapped inside the Matrix:
That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save . . . You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.
Regarding Neo-Monitors and the neopets team (TNT):
We are survived by hiding from them, by running from them, but they are the gatekeepers. They are guarding all the doors, they are holding all the keys. Which means sooner or later, someone is going to have to fight them. I won't lie to you neo. Every single man or woman who has stood their ground, everyone who has fought an agent has died.
Ok, now think about what neopets is exactly. It's the Matrix.
It's a prison for your mind, body, and soul. You waste away hours a day, trapped in the Matrix. They feed off of your energy. The more you play, the more times they can display their ads, and the more money they collect from Mcdonalds, General Mills, Disney, etc. They want you trapped in the Matrix, and they feed off your time and your energy so they can live. Without you, the Matrix will die, and you will be set free.
How do they trap you? They make up a fake place, neoland, and have fake items, fake currency, a fake stock market, fake news, fake shops and most of all, a sense that it is real. You struggle and you worry, you stress over these items, making your more and more trapped in the Matrix. As you "leave" the Matrix each time, you are bombarded with products outside the fake world of neoland, and are encouraged to buy the TCG (Trading Card Game) or actual dolls created by neopets. You are just feeding the Matrix and making it stronger. You are giving in, letting it grow, and helping the Matrix to trap even more people.
Everything about neoland is fake, except all that time you spend there.
You are better than that. You are smarter than that, you have better things to do with your time than that. I know every person out there has the ability to break free, and enjoy life. Read the REAL news, invest in the REAL stock market, buy REAL items, get a REAL pet, make REAL money, make REAL friends where you know their REAL name. I bet you have "good friends" in neoland where you don't even know their REAL names (first and last names).
You can even watch TV or play other games that don't trap your mind the way the Matrix does. Games that you don't worry about losing everything you worked for because of some "glitch" or games where you don't stress out all day, thinking about fake items you are trading or putting for auctions. Trust me on this, there are better things to do with your time than play neopets.
