3 Way/2Way Auction Scam (Inflators)

This is where well before the auction is over, you have 3 people.  In the example below, fightingbody is the main bidder.  He bid 3,700 for the paint brush, and there's his 2 friends, _man_in_shadow_ and linksys108.  They bid it up way past the market value of the brush, then they bank their money.  By doing this, fightingbody wins the brush for 3,700.  Pretty slick huh?

You can also do this with 2 people, but you can only do one item at a time.  If you only have 2 bidders, one of those two has to bank.  The other has to win it for a low bid.  Imagine in this example that _man_in_shadow_ bid 5,800 in a 2 way scam.  He would have to keep between 5,800 and 9,999 (his next bid was 10,000) out.  If he keeps more than 10,000 out, he will win his next highest bid.  For this reason, he could only keep 9,999 or less outside of his bank.

I suppose you could do more than one, but you have to keep winning and banking, then taking out a certain amount.  Like if it was a 2 way scam, he would have to take 5,800-9,999 out of the bank (no more or else he'll pay more), then win, let it process, then take out only the amount for the next one to process . . .

If you do a 3 way auction scam, you can do hundreds of these and not worry about pulling money out for each one.  As best I can figure, neopets will freeze you for this, but only if you are careless.  I've seen these 3 do it a lot, and I think I know how they do it.

They have different IP addresses, cause I know someone got frozen, but they started, and used the accounts on one IP address, so it was obvious.  I think if you do it with different IP addresses, it'll work.  On a side note, you can't bid from the same IP address, even if you use different accounts, so you do need 2 or 3 people to pull this off.

Remember, you can try doing this, but if neopets freezes you for this, don't blame me.

If you do decide to do it, change your IP address first.  If you are on dial up, it's easy, just re-connect.  If you have DSL or Cable, then unplug it for a few hours, and check back.  You can check your current IP address by going to http://www.whatismyip.com cause neopets logs and keeps track of all the addresses you logged in from.  If they see different accounts logging in from the same address over and over (especially if transferring stuff a lot), they will freeze you.  If you don't do a lot of transferring, who's to say it's not just a brother or sister's account, so watch for that.
